The cause of the incident is still under investigation. To restore service, Williams' Operations personnel by-passed the 22-inch line, connecting the 6-inch pipeline directly to a parallel 30-inch pipeline. Repairs to the 22-inch are on-going. Disruption of service was limited to customers around the Pendleton, Ore./Walla Walla area.
Williams' Northwest Pipeline, based in Salt Lake City, Utah, operates 3,950 miles of natural gas transmission pipeline extending from Sumas, Washington on the Canadian border to the San Juan Basin in northern New Mexico. The pipeline provides natural gas service to seven states in the Pacific Northwest and the Intermountain region.
Williams, through its subsidiaries, is the nation's largest-volume transporter of natural gas and provides a full-range of traditional and leading-edge energy and communications services.
