Williams Distributed Power Services offers products and services designed to fit the specific needs of customers seeking to lower their energy costs, improve their power quality or obtain power in remote locations.
AGC is a subsidiary of Grupo Gentor in Mexico. The company also has a Broken Arrow, Okla., business group, AGC Project Development, Inc., which is dedicated to designing and manufacturing and servicing efficient and environmentally sensitive power generation and cogeneration systems for commercial and industrial applications worldwide.
Under terms of the agreement, AGC will provide 3.0 megawatts of power and a minimum of 20,000 pounds per hour of steam to SAIT. The power and steam are provided by a Mobile Cogeneration Unit (MCUÒ 30) - a compact, fully automated, trailer mounted unit containing two independently operable Kawasaki M1A-13A gas turbines with shaft-driven generators and a fired heat recovery steam generator.
"The significance of this deal is that it proves our model for facilitating projects like this is valid and workable. It also sets the stage for a global partnership between Grupo Gentor and Williams Distributed Power Services to do similar projects using MCUs and other products in the Americas," said Mory Houshmand, director of Williams Distributed Power Services.
Mario Acosta, director of Grupo Gentor, said, "We are committed to meeting SAIT's energy needs while providing substantial savings to the institute. The project also represents the genesis of a long-term and mutually beneficial relationship between Grupo Gentor and Williams Distributed Power Services.
"The combined strengths of the two companies will allow Grupo Gentor to significantly expand its power products and services to future and existing customers worldwide."
The MCUÒ 30 utilizes the highest quality components available on the market. In addition, the units are designed for quick delivery and installation, which in the past has been rare within the energy and cogeneration industry, Acosta said.
SAIT serves 68,000 students a year, educating students in business, communications, energy, engineering, technologies, health sciences, hospitality and transportation.
"This agreement with Williams Distributed Power Services provides SAIT the opportunity to expand its training deliverables into the gas turbine field while simultaneously providing the institute with enhanced flexibility in the purchase of utility services," said Ed Tickles, director of campus operations and maintenance at SAIT.
