Ensuring groundwater purity. Monitoring air quality. Protecting wildlife habitat. For Gretchen Kohler (pictured above) and hundreds of Williams workers, these are the marching orders each and every morning. That’s why Gretchen is proud of Williams’ participation in World Water Monitoring Day, which teaches youngsters the importance of being good environmental stewards.
While Williams works to deliver vital natural gas across America, we take an environmentally mindful approach in all our operations. Which is why it’s rewarding to know federal and state regulators have honored us with several awards for best practices:
- An award from the BLM for integrating a new technology that can drill and complete up to 22 natural gas wells on a single drilling location.
- Three Outstanding Operations Awards from the Colorado Conservation Commission, including:
- Conducting a hydrology survey to study water quality.
- Constructing a road and tunnel to shorten the driving distance to a new acreage area.
- Centralizing the hydraulic fracturing process to eliminate trucking water from the North Rulison field.
- The Colorado Oil and Gas Conservation Commission gave Williams an award for working with the EPA, state agencies and a local environmental group on an air-sampling program around our gas wells.
Each accolade is a symbol of our corporate-wide commitment to responsible energy development. Our culture has always been one of environmental concern. And our company is one where reliable actions have always spoken louder than awards.
