Admiration Built to Last

About the author: My name is Perrin and I began my journey with Williams six years ago as a college intern in Tulsa, OK. After graduating from Oklahoma State University with an undergraduate degree in Accounting and Finance, I was offered a position with Williams in the Professional Development Program. I had big plans of returning home to Dallas, TX after school, but instead this amazing company whisked me off my feet with a job I couldn’t refuse. It wasn’t really a job, it was an opportunity.

Like many graduating college students, I didn’t know where I should focus on growing my career. Through the development program, Williams gave me the flexibility and opportunities to try new areas and helped me figure out the right direction. I worked in three business rotations over the course of three years before having the chance to take a job as a Commercial Development Rep in one of our fastest growing areas, the Northeast. So I took the plunge and made the move to Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania where I have been for the past two years.

It was recently announced that Williams was named the No.1 Most Admired U.S. Energy Company for 2015 by FORTUNE® Magazine and frankly, I was not surprised. My only reaction was, “It’s about time, people!”

I love to talk about where I work. One of the best parts of my job is volunteering to help with college recruiting, because I know every word of what I say is true. This company supports its employees in every aspect of their career and personal development.

Since living in Pittsburgh, I have been able to experience first-hand Williams living out its vision of becoming a premier provider of large-scale infrastructure with its recent acquisitions and growth.  Williams is constantly developing its employees to take on new responsibilities but yet we still manage to maintain the same high quality customer service through these changing times as we have in the past. Personally, I continue to feel energized and supported by our management whether it’s interacting face-to-face with my customers; being able to visit our facilities that are a quick car ride away; collaborating on projects with my co-workers or volunteering for United Way events.

This company is admired both internally and externally and I couldn’t imagine working anywhere else.
