For Williams, having top-tier and diverse talent in the areas of science, technology, engineering and math – or STEM – is key to our success. It’s how we make sure our pipelines are safe and efficient, and it’s how we optimize the way we run our business. That’s why – in just the past two years alone – we’ve provided nearly $1.2 million in funding for STEM projects in our communities.
But given the disparity in the ratio of males to females in STEM, we think it’s even more important to encourage female involvement with STEM. So when we were approached by Carnegie Science Center and KDKA about title sponsorship of the inaugural “Girls Rock Science” exhibition occurring October 3 and 4, we jumped at the opportunity.
We had a great time working with KDKA to shoot a commercial advertising the upcoming Williams Girls Rock Science event. Check out the pics below from the shoot, featuring the following members of our leadership team: Jim Scheel, senior vice president; Candyce Fly Lee, director of project development; and Teresa Palacios, director of financial planning and analysis.
In the commercial that will air leading up to the event, you’ll hear Jim, Candyce and Teresa talk about Williams’ commitment to STEM, and how STEM is used daily in their careers.
Please join us at this event and meet some of the Williams Women who are using STEM to drive change. And, of course, we can’t wait to meet the next generation of female engineers, financial planners, scientists and business leaders!
