Staff Reports

hispanc-career-world-cover-williamsThe Summer/Fall issue of Hispanic Career World magazine includes Williams engineer Karent Balda Rivas as one of the energy industry’s “Powerful People.”

The magazine, an Equal Opportunity Publication that specializes in diversity recruitment, approached Karent to participate in an article that also features others from Chevron, DTE Energy, AEP and Dominion.

The article “Powerful People” focuses on five Hispanic energy professionals who are making a difference in the industry and who have lessons to share with others.

Karent tells the story of being an 11-years-old, participating in a school program called the Petroleum Olympics in her native Venezuela. At that time, she decided she wanted to work for the national oil company as either a petroleum or chemical engineer. It was her mother who advised her to go for chemical engineering for more career flexibility.karent-balda_field

In the article, she shares what it was like to be an intern with Williams and lessons she has learned during her five years with the company.

Karent’s interview can be found on pages 43-44 in the current issue of Hispanic Career World titled “Balda Rivas’ Work at Williams Provides Protection.”
