Northeast Supply Enhancement

We make clean energy happen.

In the heart of the bustling Northeast, where millions of people rely on steady, clean, affordable and reliable energy to power their homes and lives, an energy transformation is underway. The Northeast Supply Enhancement (NESE) project is more than just an infrastructure upgrade; it’s a strategic investment in the region’s energy future.

Williams’ NESE project is an expansion of the existing Transco natural gas pipeline system, which already serves as a critical energy artery stretching through Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and New York. As demand continues to grow, especially in densely populated areas like Brooklyn, Queens, Staten Island, and Long Island, so too must the capacity to deliver reliable energy.

In response, the project is set to deliver by increasing the system capacity by about 400,000 dekatherms per day. That’s enough natural gas equivalent to meeting the daily needs of approximately 2.3 million homes, reinforcing the region’s energy resilience and supporting its continued growth.

Construction Activities

Construction activities are across Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and New York. It includes installing pipeline loops, adding pipeline segments next to existing pipelines, modifying existing facilities, and connecting new infrastructure to existing systems. This work spans both onshore and offshore areas, ensuring enhanced energy delivery and reliability across the three states.

Pennsylvania Scope of Work

  • New Quarryville Loop with 10.1 miles of 42-inch-diameter pipeline loop in Quarryville, Lancaster County.
    • Add one electric motor-driven compressor at Station 200 in Chester County.

New Jersey Scope of Work

  • New Madison Loop with 3.4 miles of 26-inch-diameter pipeline loop in Old Bridge and Sayreville, Middlesex County, New Jersey.
  • New Raritan Bay Loop with 6.2 miles of 26-inch-diameter new pipeline offshore in New Jersey.
    • 0.2 miles of pipe in onshore Middlesex County, New Jersey
    • 6.0 miles of offshore pipe in New Jersey waters
  • Construction of Station 206 in Somerset County, New Jersey

New York Scope of Work:

  • New Raritan Bay Loop with 17.3 miles of 26-inch-diameter new pipeline offshore, and connections to existing infrastructure.
  • Pipeline looping through Queens and Richmond Counties
