Beefing Up the Food Bank

Staff Reports

I recently got to meet Jerry and Mary Lou Motko at the St. Vincent de Paul Food Bank in Butler, which is the largest in Butler County.

Jerry and Mary Lou volunteer there, with responsibility for managing agricultural donations.

During our visit, we talked about the growing need in the Butler County community and how it has come together to help keep the food bank stocked. The food bank serves anyone in economic need.

With such a growing need in the county, Jerry and Mary Lou asked us for help with purchasing an animal at the Butler County Farm Show.

We were honored to assist, ultimately purchasing a couple of cows to help free up the food bank’s funds for other items.

You can meet Jerry in this video interview and see some of the festivities at the Butler Farm Show, which was a lot of fun to attend.

If you’d like to get involved at the food bank, too, please call (724) 287-3994.
