How have you been spending your time in retirement? I love traveling, hiking & running. My son and I went to Japan and Korea this past summer. My running group has traveled the past 2 years to Estes Park, CO & Tahoe NV for half marathons. These are fun trips hanging out with my friends. Also, I am on a mission to visit all 63 National Parks. This past year, I hiked in Acadia, Lassen Volcano, Yosemite, Kings Canyon, Sequoia, Cuyahoga Valley & New River Gorge National Parks.
Are you involved in any community/volunteer activities? Williams has allowed me, as a retiree, to stay on the Williams Rt 66 Marathon Board. I also volunteer at the Rt 66 Expo and 5K Finish Line as well as other events throughout the year.
So far, what has been your favorite thing about retirement? No alarm clock and set schedule! Also, spending more time with my 2 granddaughters.
Anything else you would like to add? I feel very blessed to have worked for a Fortune 500 company like Williams with a Pension Plan (while I was still employed) and an excellent, matching 401K plan. I took full advantage of this and it allowed me to retire very comfortably at an age that I am still healthy and able to do some traveling, running and other things that I really enjoy doing.
