The Northwest Pipeline, operated by Williams Companies, is a critical natural gas transmission system serving the western United States. Spanning approximately 3,900 miles, it traverses Washington, Oregon, Idaho, Wyoming, Utah, and Colorado, connecting key supply regions—including British Columbia, Alberta, the Rocky Mountains, and the San Juan Basin—to markets across the Pacific Northwest and Intermountain regions.

To continue meeting growing energy demands and ensure reliable service across this vast network, Northwest is advancing the Ryckman Creek Lateral Loop Project, which is more than just a pipeline; it’s a strategic step toward strengthening energy reliability in the region. By creating a new lateral loop, Northwest will unlock additional firm transportation capacity, connecting seamlessly to its existing meter station and the Spire Storage facility in Uinta County, Wyoming. This connection ensures that critical natural gas resources can move efficiently where they’re needed most.

The project will be regulated by the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) under Prior Notice. This process isn’t just regulatory, it’s collaborative. It brings together state, local, and federal agencies, along with community stakeholders, to ensure transparency and shared responsibility every step of the way.

Once the project clears FERC approval, construction will move forward with precision and purpose. By the fourth quarter of 2026, the Ryckman Creek Lateral Loop will be fully operational, delivering enhanced capacity and reinforcing Northwest’s commitment to safe, reliable energy for the future.
