Kelso Beaver Reliability

We make clean energy happen.

The Kelso Beaver Reliability project will add 183,400 Dekatherms per day (Dth/d) of capacity to the Northwest Pipeline system, meeting the region’s growing demand for natural gas. Ensuring reliable service, especially during winter peaks of 11%, is crucial for maintaining a resilient system. The project involves acquiring the existing 18-mile KB pipeline and installing a new electric motor-driven compressor station, which will lower emissions compared to traditional compressors. The project does not involve new pipeline construction but focuses on upgrading existing infrastructure and access to natural gas storage.

Williams addresses environmental concerns by implementing ongoing monitoring and minimizing emissions. Engaging with local communities is a priority, and we are committed to addressing their concerns. To protect local wildlife and ecosystems, we have put measures in place and will continue to monitor their health. The project will help stabilize the system during high-load winter days and unexpected disruptions, benefiting gas and power customers in Washington and Oregon. This ensures access to natural gas, reliable service, and reduced market volatility, meeting the region’s energy needs sustainably and responsibly.
