Southeast Supply Enhancement
Southeast Supply Enhancement
Delivering reliable, affordable natural gas for a growing region.
SSE Project Overview & Resources
As energy demand in the Southeast and Mid-Atlantic accelerates, natural gas is supporting economic growth and helping meet the ever-increasing demand for clean, reliable and affordable energy.
Natural gas provides a reliable, efficient and low-emissions alternative to coal-fired electricity generation and is a natural partner with renewables.
The proposed expansion taps into established pipeline corridors to minimize environmental impact to property owners.
It will be built and maintained using Williams’ industry-leading safety standards: 24/7 monitoring, rigorous maintenance, and the transparent communication that has made us a trusted neighbor.
Williams proposed Southeast Supply Enhancement project will provide additional energy reliability to support communities across the region.
In addition to stimulating direct and indirect economic growth, SSE will add ~1.6 million dekatherms per day of natural gas transportation capacity — equivalent to what is needed to serve approximately 9.8 million homes.
In addition to modernizing the existing natural gas system, the project is expected to generate over 3,000 direct and indirect jobs for North Carolinians.
