A new independent study is helping quantify the potential value Constitution Pipeline could provide to energy consumers across the Northeast. 

Williams recently engaged Daymark Energy Advisors, an energy consulting and market analysis firm, to evaluate how the proposed Constitution Pipeline could impact energy affordability, reliability and emissions across New York and New England. The analysis comes as electricity demand continues to grow and regional energy infrastructure faces increasing pressure during periods of extreme weather.  

Daymark’s findings show the project could deliver approximately $5.8 billion in wholesale electricity cost savings across New York and New England over a 20-year period, including about $3 billion in benefits for New York consumers. The study concluded that increasing access to abundant natural gas supplies could help lower fuel costs for power generation, resulting in lower wholesale electricity prices across the region.  

The report also examined how the project could perform during periods of severe winter weather, when energy systems are often under the greatest stress. Under a severe winter scenario, Daymark found Constitution Pipeline could generate more than $800 million in wholesale energy savings while helping improve reliability and reduce reliance on higher-emitting fuel oil generation. The analysis projected a reduction of approximately 163,000 tons of carbon emissions during those conditions.  

Importantly, Daymark modeled a future that includes continued renewable energy growth, electrification and clean-energy policies. Even under those assumptions, the study found the project continued to provide meaningful affordability and reliability benefits.  

For Williams, the study provides an independent assessment of how Constitution Pipeline could help address long-standing infrastructure constraints in the Northeast while supporting the region’s growing energy needs. The findings are expected to help inform ongoing conversations with stakeholders, policymakers and communities about the project’s role in delivering reliable and affordable energy to the region.
