CEO at Barclays: New projects will serve growing demand for natural gas

Williams will add 4.2 billion cubic feet per day (bcf/d) of natural gas capacity with 12 new projects from now through 2027, Alan Armstrong said at the Barclays CEO Energy-Power Conference this week.

The expansion follows the company’s completion of 17 projects, which added approximately 5 bcf/d of capacity from 2018 to 2023.

A billion cubic feet of natural gas can supply about five million US homes per day.

Among the upcoming projects is the 1.6 bcf/d Southeast Supply Enhancement project which is expected to be operating by the fourth quarter of 2027.

Armstrong said the $1.45 billion Southeast Supply Enhancement project would help meet growing demand from residential, commercial and industrial customers in the Mid-Atlantic and Southeast, including fast-growing demand for electricity from data centers.

ā€œI can tell you we have our hands very full right now trying to keep up with the number of opportunities that are coming at us right now,ā€ Armstrong said about data centers.

ā€œWe’re really excited about how we’re positioned around this, the land positions we have, the co-location with fiber, the gas resources, as well as the carbon capture that we have in some of those areas.ā€
