It takes many talents to run our offices and assets. If you’re studying one of the areas below – or a similar discipline – you may be a great fit for our early career positions. 

  • Technical school programs like manufacturing or machining, mechatronics, industrial or applied technology, oil and gas, engineering sciences, automation, instrumentation and electrical (I&E) and other hands-on technical certifications and degrees 
  • Chemical, civil, energy, environmental or mechanical engineering 
  • Accounting, finance, economics, analytics, supply chain, marketing, energy management and Master of Business Administration

More About Our Early Career Positions 

We recruit for engineering (chemical, mechanical, civil, energy and environmental ), business (finance, accounting, marketing, supply chain and analytics) and information technology (MIS, computer science, BIS and CIS)

We offer challenging intern opportunities in engineering, information technology and business. If you have the ability and drive to learn from the best in the industry and the desire to contribute to something bigger than yourself, you’ll fit right in. Throughout the summer you’ll have the opportunity to interact with and learn from our leadership team and other Williams employees in addition to activities with your fellow interns. We provide robust training and development throughout your internship to accelerate your knowledge and help you succeed in a high-performing environment.

Internships span 10 to 12 weeks over the summer.

Review our annual reports, current industry topics, talk to current employees, former interns your professors and your career services office.  Your school’s career services office also may have information to assist you including practice interviews, questions and advice, and we support and participate in many of those on campus programs. Arrive a few minutes early and make sure a copy of your resume is available in the format requested. Business dress is appropriate. 

Once you apply for an open position, if selected you might be invited to submit a recorded HireVue video interview. Those who progress to round two will be asked to participate in an in-person or video interview with a Williams Campus Champion. 

Location assignments are based on business need and will be included in formal offers. Engineering roles may be in Tulsa, Oklahoma, Houston, Texas, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, or Salt Lake City, Utah. Business roles may be in Tulsa, Houston or Pittsburgh. Information Technology roles are in Tulsa or Houston. For most roles, an opportunity to submit a location preference is provided with your application which will be taken into consideration. We do provide a housing stipend and may provide additional relocation assistance if we relocate you more than 50 miles from your home and school address.     

Yes, all our internships are paid positions. Every year we assess industry and market standards to determine fair and competitive pay. We also offer summer housing assistance. 

Our summer interns are our largest talent pipeline into our entry-level roles and our early career rotational program.

Requirements for a technical internship vary depending on the asset supported and the location. Generally, we recruit for Aircraft Maintenance Technology, Automotive Technology, Corrosion Technology, Diesel Technology, Engineering Technology, Instrumentation & Controls Technology, Instrumentation & Electrical Technology, Maintenance Technology, Natural Gas Compression, Petroleum & Natural Gas Technology, Power Generation Technology and Process Operations & Technology.

If you have the ability and drive to learn from the best in the industry and the desire to contribute to something bigger than yourself, you’ll fit right in. Throughout the summer you’ll have the opportunity to interact with and learn from our leadership team and other Williams employees in addition to activities with your fellow interns. We provide robust training and development throughout your internship to accelerate your knowledge and help you succeed in a high-performing environment.

Internships span 10 to 12 weeks over the summer. Applications are open Sept. 5 through Oct. 15, 2023.

Arrive a few minutes early and have a copy of your resume with you. Business casual dress is appropriate unless otherwise instructed by your school. 

Technical interns are assigned to a field location, supporting a local asset. One exception is a Maintenance Technician extern, who works with our building maintenance team and is located in our Tulsa headquarters. 

Yes, all of our internships are paid positions. Every year we assess industry and market standards to determine fair and competitive pay. For certain locations, we may also offer assistance with summer housing.

Our summer interns build our talent pipeline for entry-level operations and technician roles.

A three-year formal development program created for engineering, business and information technology graduates. Candidates are often recruited from our summer internship pool and during campus recruiting events. Each year in the program may provide an opportunity for a position in a different city and/or area of the business. Placements are determined based on business need, employee development profiles and when possible, employee preference.

Our Early Career Rotational Program is a great way to learn about different jobs within the company. Employees in our programs typically rotate to a new business function every twelve months for three years.
